Kristie Virtue is currently a full time third grade teacher at St. Bernard’s School in Manhattan, where she has worked for the last five years. Previously, she had worked as an assistant teacher at Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT, teaching fourth and second grade. She takes a “needs-based” approach to teaching, altering her lessons and implementing them in the classroom so that they can meet the needs of every student.
Her main focuses are: English (Spelling, Handwriting, Composition writing, Poetry, Grammar), Reading, Math, and History (NYC, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient Greece). Kristie often supplements her lessons with fun enrichment activities to promote student engagement and to support her students to reach their academic potential. Kristie has experience teaching several different math programs (including Singapore and Everyday Math), as well as reading and writing programs. Kristie is the editor of the Yearbook at St. Bernard’s and leads after-school programs focusing on STEAM activities. Before her work at St. Bernard’s and Brunswick, she received a duel bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville College in Literacy and Early Childhood education. She received her undergraduate degree from College of Charleston, studying Elementary Education. Kristie is a dedicated, hard-working professional and her love and passion for education is evident through her work with her students.
