Elizabeth Lowry started her teaching career in Namibia in the mid-90s, and then moved back to the U.S. where she taught high school English and ESL. While earning her MFA in the early 2000s, she began teaching creative writing, expository writing, and academic writing at the university level. Before moving to New York, Elizabeth spent eighteen years teaching writing at universities in Arizona and California. She has also worked as a writing coach for private clients, editing academic papers and offering consultations for works of fiction and non-fiction.

Elizabeth holds a BA in English from the University of Pennsylvania, an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University, and a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from Arizona State University. She loves to write and has published numerous articles in academic journals and anthologies as well as three monographs.

Elizabeth was drawn to tutoring because she enjoys working with students one on one. She especially enjoys guiding students through the writing process and helping them to figure out what works best for them. For Elizabeth, one of the most fun elements of the writing process is watching a blank page fill up with words and seeing a mind in motion.
